Environmental Issues in Post-Conflict States and the Multiple Streams Model

In post-conflict states, environmental problems are often neglected regardless of their severity. According to UN data, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is one the countries with worst air pollution in world, which has serious consequences for people's health economy. Given importance this issue, paper investigates why it not on agenda policymakers, by applying Kingdon's multiple streams model. The analysis leads conclusion that three (problem, policy, politics), politics stream remains most problematic one. However, author argues original model deficient explaining problem off agenda, since only includes domestic actors, while case BiH, as well some other countries, international actors play a significant role. order overcome shortcoming, itself enhanced an insight into role played relation problem. It concluded protection were largely ignored well, primarily due nature liberal peacebuilding, predominantly focused building democratic institutions.
